One thing is for sure: Orlando, cheesy as some may say it is, lacks decent cheese. On the dining-out frontier, we're doing great. When it comes to libations, spectacular. We're even doing OK on the chocolate front. But when it comes to handcrafted speciality cheeses, there's nothing happening.
When unpronounceables are listed on a menu, you're almost sure to be corrected – even when you're saying it right. Then you commit the item to memory and the next time you enunciate with newfound pride when ordering, say, Gewürztraminer, cassoulet, bacalao or bruschetta.
We are the takeout generation who grew up with Chinese dives on every corner and can now just as easily find sushi, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian joints. But there's still an authentic Asian cuisine that's exotic to most of our tastes – Korean.
